What Bloom Sugaring’s Been Building: SugarCon, Bad Bitch Breakfast and What Comes Next
Earlier this month, I packed up hundreds of gift bag items, flew to Cleveland for SugarCon and hosted the one year anniversary of Bad Bitch Breakfast.
What began last year as a random coffee with the women in my industry became a sold out room of 55 estheticians, salon owners, educators and industry leaders.
It was beautiful, it was vibrant, the gift bags were filled to the brim, and for one morning, nobody had to walk into a room full of beauty professionals wondering who was judging them.
That was the whole point.

Why I created Bad Bitch Breakfast
We can be honest: the beauty industry has a catty esthetician problem.
There is too much gatekeeping, gossip disguised as concern, territorial behavior and treating another talented professional like her success somehow threatens your own. We talk endlessly about community, then walk into industry spaces prepared to compare, compete and quietly pick each other apart.
Bad Bitch Breakfast was created to stand above that culture.
Not by pretending it doesn’t exist, and not by hosting another networking event where everyone recites an elevator pitch and collects Instagram handles they’ll never engage with.
I wanted to create a room where women could drop the performance, sit across from someone they had never met and actually talk to them.
No proving. No peacocking. No asking what someone does just to decide where they fall in the imaginary industry hierarchy.
Just breakfast, honesty and a firm belief that the woman across from you is not your competition.
Kindness is hot as fuck. That isn’t just the merch slogan. It’s the standard.
One year later
The first Bad Bitch Breakfast happened one year ago during SugarCon weekend. This year, 55 attendees trusted the idea enough to buy a ticket before knowing every detail, and the event completely sold out in just 24 hours!!
The room included newly licensed estheticians, established salon owners, educators, speakers and those quietly considering their next big move.
Everyone came from a different part of the industry, but nobody entered the room as more important than anyone else.
Our conversation cards didn’t ask what everyone did for work. They asked:
- What’s a dream you barely let yourself say out loud?
- What’s an opinion you have about the beauty industry that you usually keep to yourself?
- If you could hard pivot right now, what career route would you take and why?
Within minutes, the room was yapping.
Not exchanging rehearsed bios. Actually talking.

Not networking with a prettier table scape
I love a beautiful room. I will never apologize for caring deeply about the flowers, paper goods, lighting, gifts and tiny details that make an experience feel special.
But Bad Bitch Breakfast is not networking with better branding.
The details create the environment, but the environment is designed to make something real happen inside it.
I wanted everyone to feel taken care of before they were ever asked to connect. There was breakfast, coffee, under eye patches, conversation cards, giveaways, handwritten notes and extremely full gift bags.
Scrub Me Good returned as the presenting sponsor with its full Bikini Care System and a wholesale starter-kit giveaway. Arrae contributed Clear Protein+ packets and Bloat Gummies. Wilde House Paper provided its beautiful Begin Again bundles. Grace & Stella made sure everyone looked appropriately hydrated while discussing their wildest career dreams. And Skinergy provided the best skin focused energy drink that had everyone buzzing throughout the day.
We also shared information about advanced sugaring education and certification opportunities with Savvy Certification because support is not only emotional. Sometimes it looks like giving someone the resource, connection or next step that could genuinely move her career forward.
Every detail had a reason for being there.

My favorite part had nothing to do with the gift bags
The gift bags were very good. I worked hard on them. I will accept compliments indefinitely.
But my favorite part was watching everyone interact.
They room was energized. Women shared ideas, admitted what they really wanted, laughed loudly and connected without scanning the room for someone more important to meet.
The energy didn’t feel performative. It didn’t feel cliquey. It didn’t feel like anyone needed to make herself smaller or louder to belong.
It felt easy.
That may sound like a small thing, but in an industry where so many professionals have experienced exclusion, competition or being made to feel like they weren’t “successful enough” to be in the room, ease is a big deal.

What any of this has to do with Bloom
Bloom Sugaring will always begin in the treatment room.
For 12 years, my clients have taught me that the technical service is only one piece of what makes an appointment matter. People remember how you received them, whether they felt judged, whether you rushed them and whether they could fully relax in your space.
The same principles that guide Bloom shaped Bad Bitch Breakfast: care, attention, safety, personality and the belief that people deserve to feel good in the room.
My work as a sugaring educator and mentor grew from that same foundation.
I don’t only care whether an esthetician can perform a technically beautiful service. I care whether they can create trust, communicate clearly, hold their boundaries and build a business that feels unmistakably like them.
Supporting estheticians makes the entire industry better. More confident professionals create better client experiences. Better-supported business owners are less likely to operate from fear, scarcity and competition.
It all connects.

What comes next
The honest answer is: a lot.
Bad Bitch Breakfast will return to SugarCon, but I also want to bring it into new rooms, new cities and deeper experiences. I’m exploring another gathering in the spring, future brand partnerships and the possibility of turning breakfast into an entire weekend.
Yes, Bad Bitch Bed & Breakfast is officially an idea on the table.
Whatever comes next, I don’t want BBB to become another event people attend simply because they feel like they should be there. It should remain personal, generous, honest and slightly rebellious.
It should continue challenging the parts of beauty culture that need to be challenged, without becoming bitter, preachy or another place where women gather to talk badly about women who aren’t in the room.
Standing above catty culture doesn’t mean creating a new group to exclude people from.
It means setting a better standard and inviting people to meet it.
Be ambitious, have strong opinions, take your work seriously, build the biggest business in the room if that’s what you want.
And be nice.
It really is that simple.

Back to Bloom
After a weekend surrounded by sugaristas, educators and industry leaders, I came home even clearer about what I want Bloom to represent, both inside and outside the treatment room.
Excellent technique, honest education, personal care, strong boundaries, beautiful experiences, no judgment, no unnecessary bullshit.
Bloom Sugaring is located inside Oko in Ocean Park, Santa Monica, offering Brazilian, bikini, facial and full-body sugaring for clients throughout Santa Monica, Venice and the Westside of Los Angeles.
Bad Bitch Breakfast may happen outside the studio, but the values behind it are the same ones waiting for you at every Bloom appointment.
